Green Tea and Berries May Prevent or Improve Alzheimer's
Study Summary
This study used 2D and 3D tissue culture models of herpesvirus-induced Alzheimer's disease to screen a panel of 21 medications, supplements, and nutraceuticals. This screen identified green tea catechins and resveratrol (which is found in red wine and other types of fruit and berries) as having strong anti-plaque properties, functional neuroprotective benefits, and minimal or no neurotoxicity. This provides support for further investigation for Alzheimer's preventives and therapies.
